Update from Sarah: Still serving in Remera

Days 6 & 7 (Tuesday and Wednesday)

Wayne has continued to teach the pastors, covering portions of the New Testament.  He is doing overviews of each book, so that the pastors have a context and some background knowledge for unwrapping each book when they return to their home churches to teach.

Paige, Ashley, and Sarah are continuing to work with the school in Remera.  In the mornings, we play with the students on their “break” (recess) for about an hour.  Playing involves all sorts of activity-from blowing bubbles and kicking a ball around to being tugged, hugged, and tackled.  On Tuesday, we were asked to teach in the afternoon.  We taught older grades topics of English grammar (active and passive voice, adjectives, etc.).  It would probably go without saying but….teaching in Rwanda is definitely different from teaching in America!  Personally, it has been very humbly for me (Sarah)!!!

Having fun during break!

Sarah and Ashley “substituted” for a younger class in the morning: shapes, adding/subtracting, patterns, rhyming words, animal sounds, feelings, songs….the list goes on!  It was challenging but a blessing to serve the kiddos!  Paige taught in an older classroom, filling in for an absent teacher as well. Sarah and Paige were asked to continue with and build upon our grammar lessons on Wednesday afternoon.  Ashley was also able to use some x-rays to teach students about the human body, and that God created us all equal and in His image.

We are all doing well and enjoying the time the Lord has given us here in Rwanda.  Please continue to pray for us to have rejuvenated energy and plenty of patience!

One more anecdote...  We handed out baggies of assorted candy to the kids today... and what do ya know!? The wrappers ended up on the floor (not sure how it happened...).  At least we know some things are the same wherever you go-they then were told to pick up all the wrappers and throw them away!
