Murundi School update

There's a trendy thing in social media right now called "Transformation Tuesday".  People post pictures of themselves at a young age along with a current photo, to illustrate how much has changed over the time between the two photos.

Well... we have a little "Transformation Tuesday" of our own today!  Remember the school in Murundi that we visited this past summer?  When we were there this past summer, it looked like this...

The families of over 2,000 students have been waiting for several years for this school to be built.  Currently, these children cannot attend school because flooding during the rainy season restricts their access to the nearest schools.

The Ministry of Education agreed to scholarship the students who will attend this school and pay the teachers' salaries if the building was complete for the 2014 school year beginning in January.  After our trip, we came back and spread the word of this great need/opportunity and the response was tremendous.

Are you ready for the "Transformation" part?!  Esron, our Rwandan partner, sent us this picture this past week...

In his email he wrote,
"...also, I was able to visit Murundi this Tuesday and the roof is complete as you can see in the pictures.  The education staff are willing to give us the students in P1-P4 if all goes well... Please give our thanks to the supporters of One27.  We are going to have a primary school due to their generosity.  May God bless you.  -Esron"

Praising God today.

**Esron also mentioned in his email that there are a few more needs to be met before the school is 100% ready to open to students in January (ie- student benches, chalkboards, etc).  If you would like more information on this, please contact us at lws1979@gmail.com.
