Trip Report: Murundi village

One of the Sundays we were in Rwanda, we had the honor of visiting one of our partner churches in Murundi, a village about 3 hours from Kigali.

This church community was an absolute JOY to spend our morning with.  The Lord's presence most certainly fills this mountaintop when they are praising His name.

The actual church building is still being built.  You can see in the photo above that the bricks have been brought on site (carried one by one up the mountain) and the walls are being built.  Once the walls are built, the government will require a metal roof and the church will need a concrete floor to ensure that it will withstand the rains for years to come.

Children who will one day attend school here.

The church at Murundi partners with this school.  The people of the Murundi church were so proud to show us the progress they have made in building the school.  They have been working very hard for several years to raise the money and build these walls.

Once this building is completed, over 2,000 students will attend school here.  (Additionally, the church will be able to use the building on Sunday mornings to meet while they continue to build their church building.)  Children in this area are currently unable to attend school due to flooding during the rainy season.  The government has already agreed that once the school is built, they will help pay for the children's tuitions (similar to a charter school set-up in America).  The pastor in Murundi has a huge heart for this school and shared with us what a great outreach this school will be to the children and their families in this area.

This school is one of the projects God has laid on our hearts to help support.  The school is roughly $4,000 away from being finished.  If you are interested in helping sponsor this school to completion, please contact us.  We'd love to talk to you more about our involvement in Murundi and how you can help!
